I have created this website in order to preserve the artwork that I created as part of my experience playing my favorite game – and participating in the forum contests – of Yohoho! Puzzle Pirates, an open-ended multi-player game, and a great deal of my life for the past 15+ years. The game was created by Three Rings Designs, and began in 2003. Three Rings Designs became a part of SEGA in November 2011. In March 2016 we heard the following:
“In response to challenging and hyper-competitive mobile market conditions, Sega Networks Inc., Sega’s mobile division in the West, has refocused its operations and made a reduction in workforce,” Sega told GamesBeat. “As a result, we said goodbye to our talented friends and colleagues at Three Rings Design Inc. alongside a small numbrer of team members on the publishing side of Sega’s mobile division.”
When I began creating this site, there had been no official word from Three Rings as to what this meant to the future of the game, but I feared the worst. So, just in case the game should pass into Davey Jones Locker, I wanted to have a place to hold my memories and to offer my tribute to this great little game and the many friends I have made by being a part of the Puzzle Pirates universe.
Eventually we learned the game had been sold to Grey Havens, LLC which is owned by past employees of Three Rings Designs. The game has become a labor of love for it’s developers. Luckily, there is active development ongoing, and the game is safe for now. May fair winds continue to blow!
